First seen in The Spy Who Loved Me, Jaws gets his nickname from his trademark steel teeth. These are capable of biting through a wide variety of materials, and Jaws prefers to kill his victims by biting through their jugular vein. The character was played in both The Spy Who Loved Me and the following film Moonraker by actor Richard Kiel.
