It is the third installment in the Fire Emblem series and is divided into two distinct books, with the first being a remake of Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi and book two consisting of a sequel.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon or Fire Emblem: Shin Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Ken in Japan, is a tactical role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. It is the second enhanced remake of the first Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryu to Hikari no Tsurugi, and the first with online capability.
