Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi is a tactical role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo R&D 1 for the Nintendo Entertainmnet System. It is the first game in the long running series of the same name, and one of the earliest turn-based strategy games for home consoles. It is available in Japan on the Wii and 3DS stores.
Often referred to as Fire Emblem 1, this was the original game that Shadow Dragon is based off of. It features far inferior graphics, fewer classes, non-unique portraits for many characters and a simplified combat system. This game also lacks the Prologue and Gaiden chapters present in Shadow Dragon, and therefore the charatcers they provide, as well as the class change system and many of the types of weapons that came into the series since.
Despite the expansion of gameplay in Shadow Dragon, it is considered a port moreso than a reboot, as the games plots are near identical, with graphical and programming enhancements being the primary draw of the game.
