Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days (known as Disgaea 2 Portable in Japan) was released in Japan on March 26, 2009 and September 8, 2009 in the US. Taking notes from Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, it features more creatable monsters, more powerful versions of existing spells, new classess, new bills, the Magichange system, Pass & Toss and Level Spheres in the Item World.

Axel Mode
The player follows Axel to learn of his life leading up to the events of the Disgaea: Cursed Memories. New songs were made for Axel Mode, including "Let's Dance At The Last Battle".
The player keeps all created characters and items, but does not have access to the DLC characters or any Adell Mode storyline characters. The reverse is also true when going back to Adell Mode unless the player is in the Land of Carnage.

When the North American version of the DLC was released, Dark Eclair, Gig and Miabel were excluded and there were various errors with the DLC. Many characters suffered from gameplay glitches such as clips, chirps and buzzes in the voices, severely hampered range with their exclusive Special Attacks, cut-in graphic glitches and various other problems. Additional, the DLC cutscenes were had issues with characters appear in the cutscenes even when the player doesn't have them. The following week, the DLC was removed from PSN so the errors could be fixed.
The DLC was later re-released with Pleinair and Sapphire being free and the rest costing $1.99.
Other packs, that were only made available in Japan, included special weapons themed after the Japanese Playstation Network mascots Toro and Kuro.
