Eliwood's Mode is the main story of Fire Emblem. The story begins with the young lord Eliwood and a small group of his most trusted retainers leaving on a journey to find his father, the Marquess of Pharae, who disappeared unannounced. Along the way, Eliwood learns of a conspiracy to take over the Lycian Alliance, led by the greedy Lord Darin and the shadowy network of assassins known only as the Black Fang. Eliwood and his friends chase Darin across the sea to the Dread Isle Valor, where the confront the madman and the man pulling the strings behind him, the powerful druid Nergal.
The remainder of Eliwood's Mode is spent trying to stop the aggressive actions of the Black Fang, who are trying to start a war to produce enough life energy for their master to revive the long lost dragons of the past. The story is over twice as long as Lyn's Mode, and serves as the main plot of the game.
