Lyn's Mode is the story of a young girl, left alone on the plains of Sacae after her clan was exterminated by bandits. She meets a young traveling tactician and embarks on a journey with him. ALong the way, she finds that she is actually the sole surviving relative of Marquess Caelin, a territory in the powerful Lycian Alliance, and that her uncle wants her dead so he can gain control of the territory.
Gameplay wise, Lyn's mode functions primarily as a tutorial to the game, added to the western release at the last second. The normal mode of the game has required tutorials, while the hard mode is still quite easy. All of the characters in Lyn's Mode return later in the game as recruitable characters, retaining their levels and stats.
