Visual Look
A major part of a video game is the atmospheric look and feel of the game. Taking cues from the TV show, Terminal Reality has used similar sounds, lighting and a sepia tone to create the same feel.
Survival over Horror
The game emphasis has been put on survival, rather than horror. The developers have said, "It's not a Call of Duty-type game; three walkers are more than a player should be able to handle at a time. And we can randomize the positions of dead bodies – walkers lying on the ground could be dead, but they might not be." To emphasize the survival aspect more, the player will need to conserve food and water.
Stealth vs. Combat
Because of the above mentioned survival aspect of the game, the players will be allowed to use Daryl's tracking skills to sneak past walkers using stealth training. That being said, they still have a choice to engage in combat or not.
In addition, Activision's demo has shown that gameplay wise, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct follows similar traits as Ubisoft's ZombiU, even down to providing objects such as flares, which can be used to distract walkers.
Helping Others
It has been said that there will be a degree of open-worldness to the game and the player will encounter other NPC's. The player can choose to help these other survivors and perhaps receive some reward for doing so. On the other hand, everyone is trying to survive and there are a number of characters who may be deceiving you.
