Doom & Destiny is a traditional Japanese-style role-playing game that uses many of the elements known to that genre. This includes random battles that have been a staple of the genre, as well as a battle system that is similar to Final Fantasy X's battle system.
Battle Line System
Players are thrown into battle through random battles, meaning as players walk around, they will get into battles with enemies. When you are first in a battle, you will notice a line at the top of the screen that shows all of the participants on it. Each character's turn is solely dependent on their speed, meaning faster characters will get more chances to act.

This is the order in which the characters' turns will take place. Whenever a character/enemy's turn takes place, their next turn is highlighted on this bar. The action they choose will determine whether they will get another turn sooner or later in the line. Powerful abilities will make them have to wait longer for their next turn.
Character Stats
Characters in the game, like any other RPG, have stats that govern their overall abilities. Each stat in the game has two lesser (still important) stats that it encompasses, like Might increasing both HP and Strength. The following is a list of the main stats, as well as the other stats that fall under it.
- Might - Hit Points and Strength
- Grit - Resistance and Critical
- Charisma - Mana Points and Spirit
- Dexterity - Evasion and Speed
Whenever a character levels up, they will be able to place 3 points into their stats. If any of these stats reach a certain threshold, then that character will gain a Power Point, which allows them to equip more skills.
Classes & Skills
Each character in your party is representative of a specific class, which reflects in them specializing in one of the four stats above, as well as certain kinds of skills. They also have equipment that only they can wear, as well as one more thing. One of the characters needs to be set as the party leader, and this leader can boost certain stats for the characters, depending on whether they stand in the front or back rows.
- Mike - Resistance and Critical Chance
- Johnny - HP and Strength
- Nigel - Spirit and MP
- Francis - Speed and Evasion
In addition to each character being unique with their class and offering stats as party leader, they also have skills that only that particular character can learn. There are active skills that can be used in battle, which consume MP, as well as passive skills that increase a specific stat. They can buy new skills from various NPCs throughout the game, which are indicated by a light bulb over their heads.
