Our galaxy is an awe inspiring, beautiful, vast place; with billions of star systems, planets, moons and asteroid fields just waiting to be explored, and exploited. The triumvirate superpowers of the Empire, Federation and Independents dominate their core system volumes and constantly skirmish to out maneuver one another on their frontiers. Outside their influence, in the vast majority of the galaxy, anarchy reigns supreme and spectacular discoveries await the bold.

Its dog-eat-dog out there – you need to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
Freedom & Universal Interaction
In Elite: Dangerous, the player controls a spaceship, using the first-person cockpit view, while choosing what path they would like to take in the galaxy: become a pirate, bounty hunter, trader, assassin, or some mix.
Taking missions or contracts, the player can choose to support certain alliances in conflicts or stay on the sidelines and scavenge the left overs.
Progress
Starting with a basic starship and a few credits, get your pilot rating all the way from "Harmless" to "Elite".
Traders & Cargo
Trading is a major way to influence an alliance and/or increase your fortune. By buying cargo at low prices and crossing dangerous space lanes, while evading or destroying pirates en route, the player can aid an alliance or sell the cargo at a high.
Pirates & Bounties

Since cargo traders are large and slow, carrying loads of heavy cargo, they become easy targets for those who want to make their fortune in more nefarious ways. Choosing to become a pirate, players can attack trade ships and steal their cargo.
Unfortunately, ruthlessness has its own drawbacks, such as bounties being placed on the heads of the pirates, turning the tables and making them become the hunted.
