Young Justice: Legacy is a team-based, action role-playing game, similar in nature to games such as Marvel Ultimate Alliance. The game is level-based and at the start of each one, you get to choose three characters from group of twelve (plus four additional downloadable characters).
Deciding upon which three characters to choose before going into the field can be critical at times, as each character has their own weaknesses and strengths. Some characters are more prone to fighting up close, while others are good at ranged combat. Knowing these will help you tremendously during tough fights.
Each character has both a light attack and a heavy one, as well as access to four abilities they can use to highlight that character's powers. In order to use these special moves, players must have enough special energy (blue bar), which will replenish over time.
There is also an experience system where where the players can upgrade their characters as they play through the various missions. This includes choosing different abilities based on the player's playstyle. In addition to that, the player can equip up to two accessories that can be purchased from Wayne Tech.
Game Modes
There will be different modes of play in the game, including both local and online multiplayer support. In addition, some new modes will be unlocked as you play the game, one of which is a Challenge Mode. This will present challenges to the player that they can complete, with one example being to defeat all enemies without taking damage.
Combat
Combat in Young Justice: Legacy is similar to hack-n-slash games as Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Besides melee, characters have an assortment of abilities at their disposal. Where one enemy can knock down several others, another can dash in and take down those enemies while another picks them off from a distance.
The combat is fluid and seamless and enemies come into the field at any moment from any side. There are also different elements to the levels. On some levels there will be someone/something generating enemies, causing you to find this specific area and stopping it in order to bring a halt to the ceaseless enemy torrent.
