Flash Back is a side scrolling platform game. Players control Conrad Black as he tries to travel to Earth to warn of an alien conspiracy.
Different moves for different situations
Conrad's journey will involve avoiding and defeating many opponents, plus navigating the environment. To help Conrad do this he can jump over things, roll under things (and come up ready to shoot), run, vault (which si a further jump from running, pull himself up or drop down to a different level and of course, shoot at things (and enemies).
Items
Pistol
Conrad has a pistol that he uses throughout the game. It can be upgraded by earning XP and it also has a charge attack that he can use for more damage. The original Flashback only offered horizontal shooting. In the new game it's now possible to aim in a full 360 degree arc around Conrad.
Conrad can shoot whilst dangling from ledges and also has a wicked combat roll that's very handy at times. He also has access to stealth attacks, for eliminating enemies quietly.
Force-field
Can repell a certain amount of enemy fire before being recharged.
Personal Teleporter
Can be used to access previously inaccessible areas.
Molecular Glasses
Used to reveal hidden aspects of level design. Basically if you don't know what to do, put on the glasses and shoot at the glowing things.
VR Challenges
Used for gaining extra XP, found in designated areas throughout the main game.
Original Flashback
The original game is available from the menu. Unfortunately it's presented in a faux arcade cabinet type interface, complete with artifical screen glare, which takes away a lot of the motivation to play the original through to completion.
