Danians are one of the races that the player can choose for their created character upon starting a new game. They evolved from some aquatic life-form they assumed when an accidental backfire of a universal cleaning mission landed them in the middle of the great river. After mastering the secrets of the water, they came onto land.
Danians have the normal male and female genders, as well as androgyne. It is the androgyne that live closest to their original function, as they tend to devote a majority of their life to magic. 
When one is born, they can choose to go either male or female. It is because of magic that the Danians are able to live long past their expected lifespan of over a hundred years.
When they first came onto land, they assumed characteristics from the other races in order to not stand out, but they are still distinguishable because of their gills. Both specific genders have long, matted hair that they wrap and twist into denotions of their social status. They know their roles and they fulfill it, with the higher castes devoting themselves to magic, and with the lower ones usually being soldiers or traders.
