The Violence Kings are the main boss encountered during the Kings of Violence mission, and they are definitely a step up when compared to previous bosses. Despite there being two of them, they actually act as one unit, so you don't have to worry about having to dodge two sets of attacks.
The fight itself comes in two stages, with the Violence Kings being on foot at first and once enough damage has been done, they use the altar until the very end. It doesn't matter who you hit during the first phase, but you have three different targets you can hit in the second; you can hit the middle of the altar (easiest) or either of the Violence Kings.
Attacks (First Phase)
- Lunging Stab - At the very beginning of the fight, they lunge forward with the bigger one's sword sticking straight forward.
- Weapon Throw - They jump in the air and throw both of their weapons at a 45 degree angle to the ground (the axe might be difficult to see due to it being darker than the sword).
- Shell Slide - Big one gets on his back and slides back and forth along the ground; Cannot be hurt while doing this.
Attacks (Second Phase)
- Energy Orbs - Both will hold their arms up and send four decent-sized energy orbs towards your location.
- Flying Altar - Using the smaller's chainsaw-sword as a propeller, they fly the altar around. Note that you can crouch to avoid getting hit and they always follow this with the following move.
- Altar Smash - The altar will jump up and smash against the ground; this is usually preceded by the Flying Altar attack.
- Flying King - The big one will stick both swords into the altar and the little one will flying diagonally towards the ground four times, coming from the left twice and from the right twice. Note that neither can be injured during this attack.
- Summoning - Both will put on some kind of armor on their heads and two blue portals will appear, one on each end of the arena. A giant snake and triceratops will appear from the one side and go into the portal on the other side. Note that the side they come out from has a small gap where you can stand to avoid this attack.
Strategy
Hopefully, you've gotten a powerful gun that does in the range of 700-900 damage (or somewhere around there, although you'll likely be lower with a machine gun or assault rifle). Also, you will probably want to upgrade your "armor" some to get extra HP, so you can survive some hits. Although you don't need them, it'll help immensely to have some Shock Bombs and First Aid Kits.
For the first phase, one Shock Bomb should be more than enough to whittle down their HP enough to start the second phase. Since the middle portion of the altar will be the most shot part of the second phase, it might be best to wait until it slams on the ground before using another Shock Bomb.
Remember to crouch whenever you see the altar flying (both Kings spinning their weapons like propellers), and stay crouched because the boss will jump away, giving you time to get back to your feet. The only tricky attack to really watch out for is the Summoning one, since you can only avoid it by quickly getting to the gap in between the wall and the one portal.
