Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z's central character is Yaiba Kamikaze, an originally antagonist ninja who massacred his own clan for being cowards. Yaiba is ultimately killed by Ryu Hayabusa, the Ninja Gaiden franchise's chief protagonist.
But Yaiba's story doesn't end there. After losing 'his life' to Ryu, as well as his eye and arm, he is resurrected by a mysterious organisation. Now half-human half-cyborg, Yaiba seeks revenge upon Ryu for taking his life, but is chiefly employed to deal with a zombie outbreak; he is tasked with hunting down these zombies under the guidance of Miss Monday, a scientist who works for the organisation that resurrected Yaiba.
Armed with a technologically advanced cybernetic arm and eye, Yaiba begins his work, ever with his main goal in mind: to kill Ryu.
