Hyrule Warriors is a collaboration between the Dynasty Warriors franchise and The Legend of Zelda franchise, utilizing elements from both to produce a new Musou-type game. While the gameplay will feature a heavy DW emphasis, it will incorporate a bunch of aspects from Zelda, such as items and rupees being the main currency.
General Gameplay
Players take control of one of many characters from the Legend Of Zelda Universe and fight against enormous armies of enemies in an open world environment. Players must slice their way through hordes of enemies and complete objectives to make your opponents flee and win the major battle.
Combos and special moves are two ways players can do such. Each character has a unique moveset, though identical combos (BBBY, BBBBY, etc.). Special moves are granted when a large chunk of enemies are killed; the meter will fill as you kill and once full you can execute a devastating move that can target a large chunk of enemies and then some.
Multiplayer
In multiplayer, one player uses the gamepad while the other uses the T.V. The two can then jump into one of the story missions and take on the enormous armies together, focusing on extreme groups or splitting up to take objectives much quicker.
Although the players use two different screens, performance is slashed such as frame rates and resolution.
Unlockables
Player can collect many different things within the game. These include weapons, materials for upgrades, hearts for increased health, and even new characters to play as.
Weapons can be upgraded if they have a free space available. If this is the situation, players can fuse another of the same weapon to create a new one with that upgrade along with the original. Some upgrades must be unlocked through killing a certain amount of enemies.
Characters can be leveled up and deal more damage as they do so.
Materials are used to upgrade each character for new moves, better defenses, and even potions.
