Publisher Electronic Arts has released its financial report for the firm's fourth quarter and full fiscal year, which ended on March 31. For the fourth quarter revenue increased to $1.18 billion, while profits increased to $395 million from $367 million during the same period a year ago.
For the full fiscal year revenue increased to $4.52 billion, from $914 million a year ago. Profits jumped to $875 million, up from a tiny $8 million a year ago.
"With a clear focus on putting our players first, FY15 was an exceptional year for Electronic Arts," said CEO Andrew Wilson. "We introduced award-winning games, delivered enduring entertainment in our live services, and forged deeper relationships with a growing global audience across consoles, mobile devices and PC. EA continues to sharpen our focus and speed, and in the year ahead we will engage more players on more platforms with new experiences like Star Wars Battlefront, FIFA 16, Minions Paradise and more."
Electronic Arts was the top publisher for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide, due to strong sales from Battlefield: Hardline, Dragon Age: Inquisition, FIFA 15, NHL 15, Madden NFL 15, Battlefield 4, and FIFA 14.
There were more than 30 million game sessions played for Battlefield: Hardline by March 31. There were also more than 15 million monthly players for The Simpsons: Tapped Out, and EA's mobile catalogue averaged 165 million players a month.
Looking at the future, Electronic Arts is expecting revenue of $4.25 billion for the full 2016 fiscal year.
