The growth of eSports has accelerated in recent years with the rise of streaming site Twitch and other services. An estimated 134 million people now watch eSports, according to a report released by SuperData.
The global market for eSports is estimated to reach $612 million in 2015. The market is dominated by Asia, where more than half of the revenue will be generated this year. Korea and China are the two biggest drivers in the region.
North America is estimated to generate $143 million from eSports. $111.1 million of that will be from corporate sponsorships and $11.8 million will be from prize pool contributions. Europe is estimated to generate $72 million revenue, while the rest of the world will generate $24 million.
