Ubisoft Returns to Profitability Thanks to Strong Game Sales

Ubisoft has returned to profits in its 2014-2015 fiscal year, which ended in March. Operating income was a positive €171 million, compared to a loss of €66 million a year ago.

Software sales increased 45 percent to €1.46 billion, from €1 billion a year ago. This was due to strong sales from franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs. The publisher's overall gaming marketshare increased to 12.8 percent.

Digital sales jumped 96.8 percent to €382.7 million. That is 26.1 percent of the total sales for the entire company, which is up from 19.3 percent a year ago.

Ubisoft expect profits to be at least €200 million in the next fiscal year. For the first quarter of the fiscal year revenue is expected to plummet to just €80 million. That is down from €360 million a year ago (2014 saw the release of Watch Dogs).
