Final Fantasy VII Remake will not be using Square Enix's Luminous Engine, Final Fantasy XV's director Hajime Tabata has said.
"Final Fantasy VII [Remake] is not planned to be made with that," Tabata told Nova Crystallis when asked which engine the game would use.
However, Final Fantasy XV will use the Luminous Engine. Kingdom Hearts III was also originally set to use the engine, but the development team has since switched to Unreal Engine 4.
