Uncharted: Golden Abyss Not Included in Nathan Drake Collection for Narrative Reasons

Naughty Dog apparently considered adding the PlayStation Vita title Uncharted: Golden Abyss to the upcoming PlayStation 4 compilation title Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

However, the game was ultimately left out of the collection for narrative reasons - the story arc from the original trilogy will lead directly into Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, whereas the story in Uncharted: Golden Abyss is really an aside.

"It was definitely under consideration, because we were trying to see how we could collect all of the Uncharted games," said Naughty Dog's community strategist, Arne Meyer, at EGX 2015 when asked about Uncharted: Golden Abyss' absence.

"But when we went back and looked at what we were trying to do with the Nathan Drake Collection, we realised that those three games – the trilogy – actually provided a particular narrative arc that led into Uncharted 4. We wanted to keep that as a holistic collection for that reason, and Golden Abyss kind of lives a little bit outside of that."
