Retailer GameStop has announced that it will not be opening on Thanksgiving Day this year, which takes place on Thursday, November 26th. The stores that will be closed include US GameStop stores, Spring Mobile, Simply Mac, Cricket Wireless, and ThinkGeek stores.
"We know this is in stark contrast to what many other retailers are doing, but we are taking a stance to protect family time during this important holiday," said GameStop executive Mike Buskey.
The GameStop online store will remain open on Thanksgiving Day, while physical stores will open at 5AM local time across the US on Black Friday.
GameStop also teased that it will offer "bigger and better" deals than in previous years.
