Fallout 4 Sold More than 500,000 Units in the UK Week One

The Fallout series, with the release of Fallout 4, has become one of just four IPs to sell more than 500,000 units in a single week in the UK, according to GfK Chart-Track, as reported by MCVUK.

The game generated more than £24 million in revenue in just a single week and that figure doesn't even include digital sales on Steam, the PlayStation Network, or Xbox Live.

Fallout 4 helped make last week the biggest week in terms of revenue for the video game industry, which generated £54.6 million for the week. Second week sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops III and the newly-released Rise of the Tomb Raider also helped drive up industry revenue.

"We wanted to bring customers an unforgettable experience for what was expected to be the release of the year," said GAME UK retail MD Charlotte Knight. "Launch night certainly didn’t disappoint, we saw tens of thousands of fans arriving at midnight openings across the UK."

"We had a great week – Fallout performed incredibly well," added HMV games buyer Nathan Allen. "It was also encouraging to see that COD had a strong second week."
