Sales for the 8th generation consoles in November 2015 in the US grew 11 percent year-over-year to $1.12 billion, according to NPD. This helped the overall industry grow two percent to $2.47 billion.
Sales for the big three consoles were the best ever, topping the previous record set in December 2014. The 8th generation grew 22 percent in terms of dollars year-over-year, while the 7th generation fell by 76 percent - well above the decline of 57 percent set throughout the rest of the year.
The 8th generation accounted for 93 percent of the consoles sold, which is a nine percent increase compared to last November. Combined sales for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One continue to outpace the combined sales of their predecessors; after 25 months the two consoles are now ahead by 47 percent.
