The mechanics of the game are similar as in previous installments of the series and they concentrate on exploration and conversations with non-playable characters.In difference to classic adventure games, The Walking Dead: Season Three lacks typical puzzles and the focus is on making various moral choices which are the main factor that shapes the story of the game. A new feature in the game is a special system that allows moving saved games between various platforms. It is possible to import saves from Season Two and continue the plots started there with all consequences of the choices previously made.
