The developers behind the original Ecco the Dolphin games have just launched a Kickstarter campaign for a spiritual successor to the series, called The Big Blue. They need to raise $665,000 within 34 days for the project to get the green light, and have so far raised just under $8,000 of that at the time of writing.
"Players will experience the ocean like never before. The look and feel of this game will be strikingly beautiful and at the same time mysterious and terrifying. The ocean, especially a million years in the future, is the perfect setting for a unique game play experience."
Assuming they get the backing they need, they plan to release the game on Earth Day 2014 (that's April 22) for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, and Ouya, with console ports then hopefully following.
