Ulthane is a Maker, having been born long before the Kingdoms of Heaven or Hell were forged, in Darksiders. A great craftsman of legendary weapons and armor, he aids War in his journey to defeat the Destroyer and redeem himself for his involvement in the premature Apocalypse.
Ulthane, like Abaddon and Azrael, conspired to bring about the Apocalypse while keeping the Four Horseman out of the fight. To do this, he forged the Armageddon Blade, a weapon capable of breaking the Seven Seals, and then reforging the seals to erase the evidence. But when Heaven failed to win the war, Ulthane hid himself away in the Forged Lands, until the day War came searching for the Griever's lair. Helping him to enter the lair, he also forges the weapon Mercy and reforges the Armageddon Blade to earn redemption.
