David Clutterbuck was a gunner in the Merchant Navy and aboard the Aquila in Assassin's Creed III. Both he and his younger brother, Richard Clutterbuck, were raised in the dockyards, where they ran errands for extra cash, and showed an affinity for fighting and guns.
In 1750, the two brother met Robert Faulkner when they joined the crew of the Stalwart, working with him until his disappearance in 1753. From then on the two were hired as a pair on vessel after vessel, making their semi-permanent home at Martha's Vineyard between jobs. It was there that Connor Kenway found and hired them as gunners aboard the Aquila.
