Not much is known about Abigail before her powers awakened, which happened in her teen years. Afraid of this newfound ability, her parents try to turn her over to the authorities, but her brother, Brent, takes her and runs away from home before that can happen. They moved from city to city, looking for a place to call home and some comfort.
This eventually landed them into the arms of some drug dealers, where both her and her brother became addicted to drugs. Suffering from withdrawals, Abigail became paranoid and thought Brent had stolen her drugs. This led to an argument between the two, where Abigail inadvertently kills Brent with her neon powers.
She was incredibly distraught with this event, which led to her easily being captured by the D.U.P. She was sent to Curden Cay and learned to use her powers to fight. Spending seven years at Curden Cay, she was selected, along with Eugene Sims and Henry Daughtry, to be transported to an army prison in Washington, as the D.U.P. was being phased out.
While being transported, the vehicle the three Conduits were in crashed, and both her and Eugene escaped. She would go to Seattle and use her powers to track down any and all drug dealers, eventually killing 21 of them. This was done for revenge for her brother, which she paid tribute with an altar at the site of his death and at each of the assassinations.
However, these killings led the D.U.P. to use them to portray her as a ruthless killer that went after innocent civilians. This led to people protesting against Conduits, as well as drugs, and also led to Delsin Rowe and his brother, Reggie Rowe, tracking her down. Firing at Delsin from her sniper's nest, she got away from him in their first encounter.
Going to recharge her powers at one of her favorite restaurants, she was jumped by Delsin and he acquired some of her powers. Running away from Delsin, the two would eventually meet and fight, with Delsin winning out in the end. Reggie showed up after the fight and was about to take Abigail into custody, leading to one of two options.

Delsin decided to let Abigail go, vouching for her and saying she would be his problem. He wanted her to learn some self-constraint when dealing with the drug dealers, and she in turn helped him learn to control and develop his neon powers. With Delsin's teaching, she would learn to take the drug dealers alive, and would eventually track down the suppliers, destroying a large shipment.
