Sometime between the two years between the first game and this one, Murray underwent a transformation that made him a lot braver. This is either likely due to his field work in the first game, where he realized his potential in battle, or the fact that he loves watching masked wrestling on TV. He makes use of his love for driving, as well as his battle prowess to help the team throughout the game.
He is captured, along with Sly, by The Contessa and is brainwashed. He breaks out of this and manages to help take down The Contessa. He is devastated when he has to sacrifice his van to get onto Arpeggio's airship, since his love for his van is only equalled by his love for his friends. However, his greatest blow comes at the end of the game, when he is holding open Clock-La's mouth to let Bentley destroy the Hate Chip. He lets it go and Bentley is crushed in its beak, paralyzing him for life.
