Murray blames himself for what happened to Bentley, eventually leaving the team to go learn under an Australian shaman named The Guru. He is sent on a journey to cleanse his soul, which makes him wind up in Venice, Italy. It is here that he meets up Sly and Bentley once more, but he doesn't join the group again. It isn't until Octavio hurts Bentley, by knocking him out of his wheelchair, that Murray gets angry, defeats Octavio and rejoins the team.
He is considered the team's "heart," as his dedication and perseverance help get Panda King to join the group when he manages to salvage his van. He also manages to qualm any doubts in Bentley's mind when he begins questioning about his role in the group.
