Patches the Hyena is the only character in Demon's Souls that makes a return in the spiritual successor Dark Souls. A trickster, Trusty Patches is first encountered in The Catacombs where he "accidently" flips a lever that can potentially kill the player. Later, he can be found in the Tomb of Giants, where he once again tricks the player and kicks them into a pit, a method previously used by Patches in Demon's Souls.
With a hatred toward Clerics, Patchesis responsible for Rhea, Nico, and Vince's fate in the Tomb of Giants, having kicked them down into the dark pit as well. He is hostile to all who identify themselves as Clerics and will bride those who are not into forgiving him.
