Battle System
Every single game in the Tales main series has used some variation of the Linear Motion Battle System. Which is a real time system that allows for attacks to happen in real time as opposed to the more traditional turn based system that a lot of jrpgs are known for. Going against the norm even more random encounters are generally nonexistent in tales games as the enemies are visible on screen and must come into contact with the player before a battle begins.
Traversal
Tales games usually handle getting around like any other rpg. Theres towns, dungeons, and an overworld. These three areas are used to get players from location to location as well as being used as venues to display important scenarios and scenes.
