These are the items found in the game.
- Bananas - collecting 100 earns an extra life. A Banana Bunch is worth ten bananas.
- Extra Life Balloon - Red balloons give one extra life, green balloons are worth two, and blue are worth three.
- Bear Coins - the currency of the game, used to pay for Swanky Kong's bonus games, for the Brother's Bear's services and for Cranky's Dojo (Gameboy Advance version).
- Bonus Coins - found at the end of each bonus level and can be used to unlock levels in Krematoa.
- DK Coins - Each level has a Koin enemy, which must be defeated by a Steel Keg to obtain. Once all DK Coins in the game are collected, Cranky will provide a Gyrocopter needed to finish the game.
- KONG Letters - finding all four letters in a level grants an extra life.
- Animal Crates - hold Animal Buddies who are freed when the crates are broken.
- Cogs - used in Krematoa to unlock the final boss battle.
- Banana Birds - birds shaped like a banana. When all of the Banana Birds are found, they are reunited with their mother, who is trapped inside a huge stone.
- Level Flag - found at the end of a level, it signifies which Kong completed a level and whether or not the Koin enemy was defeated in said level, as well as if all of the minigame barrels were completed.
