The Donkey Kong Country franchise is a series of side-scrolling platformers that total five games and all published by Nintendo. The first three games were developed by Rare for the Super Nintendo, and were later ported to the Game Boy Advance, with some changes and even exclusive content.
Initially released in 1996, Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! would be the last title in the series until it was revived by Nintendo, with Donkey Kong Country Returns, in November of 2010. This title and its sequel, Tropical Freeze, were developed by the American developer, Retro Studios.
