Grand Theft Auto: IV is the sixth 3D open-world game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. It was released on Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PS3 on April 29, 2008, and on the PC/Games for Windows port by Rockstar Toronto on 2/3 December 2008.
The new Rockstar Advanced Game Engine is used in the game, introducing the new era of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. It featured the first protagonist not to have been born or raised in North America, and became the best-selling game on launch day upon initial release.
The game is set in a revamped Liberty City, now more heavily based off of New York City and New Jersey. Mostly every part of the environment, including buildings and vehicles, have been overhauled to look as realistic as possible.
