Xenoblade Chronicles - Zanza

Bio

Zanza (Klaus) is a minor character in Xenoblade, who is later revealed to be the primary antagonist and final boss. He was a great scientist, and his curiosity led him to create an experiment with the aim to create a new universe, to great success (this is the Universe portrayed in Xenoblade). He emerges from the infinite sea as Bionis, and Meyneth, his partner, as Mechonis. Both he and Meyneth become 'Gods' in this new universe.

Story

Before Xenoblade Chronicles

Zanza creates all life on Bionis as an attempt to stave off loneliness. However, this proves ineffective, and attempts to begin a cycle of destruction and recreation, where all life must be returned to him to prevent his own demise. This is assisted by the Telethia, who are designed to kill all life on Bionis in preparation for the recreation of the universe, and also his disciples (Dickson, Lorithia and Alvis).

Meyneth does not support this idea, however, and so Zanza attempts to destroy Meyneth so he can continue with his plan. This is the fight portrayed at the beginning of the game between the Bionis and the Mechonis, which eventually ends in him, possessing the body of the great giant Arglas, in Prison Island. However, his soul is kept stored within the Monado.

First encounter

When freed from Prison Island by Shulk and the party, Zanza unshackles the Monado to stave off a Mechonis attack, giving Zanza his full power back. However, he is attacked, and killed, by a spear from Metal Face shortly after unshacling the Monado.

Zanza, residing in the Monado, rests to recover his strength, until a group of Homs explorers discover the Monado in Ose Tower in Valak Mountain. He sucks the lifeforce from the explorers and inhabits a young boy who was amongst the party, who is revelaed to be Shulk. Dickson carries this child back to Colony 9, where he trains and looks after him until Shulk is able to use the Monado, in which case Zanza could be released.

Zanza returns

This occurs after the events in Mechonis Core, after Shulk and co. defeat Egil for the final time. Dickson shoots Shulk in the back, allowing Zanza to emerge from Shulk. It is revealed that Shulk was always dead, and was merely a vessel for Zanza to manipulate until they were in the right place at the right time (the 'visions' Shulk can see are Zanza guiding him to this location). At this point, Meyneth (who possesses Fiora's body) attempts to defeat Zanza. After a breif fight, Zanza realizes that Meyneth is far from her full strength, and attempts to attack Shulk. Meyneth emerges from Fiora's body, and takes the full force of the attack. This causes Meyneth to die and Zanza's dream to be realized.

Zanza escapes into the Bionis and sinks Prison Island, giving him control over the Bionis again and causes the High Entia to turn into Telethia. Zanza attempts to kill Fiora and the party, but Egil blocks the attack, allowing the party to escape on Junks. Zanza, however, attacks and destroys a weakened Mechonis, and kills Egil and anything remaining inside the Mechonis in the process.

Endgame

After defeating Zanza's disciples, the party progress through a teleporter on Prison Terrace into Space Memory. Zanza, now possessing Meyneth's Monado, making him stronger than ever before, awaits in the area where Earth used to be. During the fight, Zanza possesses 3 different forms which the party must defeat to complete the game.

After the fight with his second form, he receives the Monado III, or the "True" Monado, which Zanza sees as a betrayal by Alvis. Shulk destroys Zanza, and Alvis, the physical representation of the Monado, asks Shulk what he wishes to do now that he is the 'God'. He replies "I wish for a world with no need for gods", and destroys the Monados, thus ending the cycle of destruction and recreation, and all need for Gods and the Bionis altogether. This causes the Universe to revert to its original form with the remains of the Bionis seen sinking in the distance.

Battle stats

Mechonis Core

Level: ???

Stats: Unknown

Battle ends: When Zanza's health reaches 80%, or after 3 minutes

EXP: 0

AP: 0

Other notes: The battle is a one-on-one with Fiora, who uses her own Monado. This gives her a small amount of health (approx. 2%) back with each successful hit. Zanza has complete immunity to all status effects in the fight. It is impossible to kill Zanza in this fight.

Space I

Level: ??? (Approx. 81)

HP: 250,000

Strength: 1,700

Ether: 1,350

Speed: 130

Crit Rate: 15%

Guard Rate: 15%

Spike: None

Battle ends: When Zanza's health reaches 0

EXP: 39,852

AP: 984

Other notes: Zanza will summon two Zanza Guardians, of level 80, in this fight. Zanza has 100% resistance to Dake, Instant Death, Sleep, Bind and Paralyze, and resistant to Break, slow, and stat down status effects. He has a 100% topple rate.

Space II

Level: ??? (Approx. 82)

HP: 600,000

Strength: 1,850

Ether: 1,500

Speed: 135

Crit Rate: 15%

Guard Rate: 0%

Spike: None

Battle ends: When Zanza's health reaches below 20%

EXP: 39,852

AP: 996

Other notes: Same resistances as in Space I, will summon 2 Zanza Guardians whenever the background area is blue. This is widely regarded as the hardest of Zanza's forms, due to the higher stats and insane HP.

Space III

Level: ??? (Approx. 82)

HP: 300,000

Strength: 1,850

Ether: 1,500

Speed: 135

Crit Rate: 15%

Guard Rate: 0%

Spike: None

Battle Ends: When Zanza's health reaches 0

EXP: 28,560

AP: 714

Other notes: Same resistances as the previous two fights, will summon 2 Zanza guardians at the beggining of the fight. The is regarded as the easiest of Zanza's 3 forms, due to Shulk having the Monado III, giving him an incredibly high critical chance, which leads to quickfire Chain Attacks. After completion of this fight, the game ends.
