Chase McCain is a cop that was sent away from Lego City prior to th events of the game is returning under the pleading of the mayor since she thinks that Rex Fury, the most wanted criminal in Lego City, has possibly escaped from the Albatross Prison Island. She wants Chase to bring Rex to justice, like he did 2 years ago before he left Lego City. He arrives at the police station with a warm and happy welcome from his to-be friend, Frank Honey, but brings a dissapointment to the cheif police, Marion Dunby. Chase recieves police equipment, such as a police communicator (which in the game looks like the white Wii U Gamepad) by Ellie Phillips, and is quickly informed that Rex as escaped. This is where his adventure begins.
The first mission Chase has is to arrest some clown criminals that are robbing a bank. After he arrests the robbers and deals with the road block, he encounters Natalia driving quickly and wants to talk to her. The conversation isn't long since Natalia steals Chase's car and goes to say goodbye to her father before she permanetly leaves Lego City. After their conversation, Chase has to arrest some more robbers, then recieves a grapple gun from the sheriff of the other police station, Duke Huckleberry, Ellie's uncle. Chase visits Rex's prison cell, which is very high-end, and discovers an escape tool from the Bluebell Mine. Chase quickly goes to the mine. He encounters Rex, but Rex defeats him easily. Chase gets awaken from his coma, then finds outs that Natalia's father has dissapeared. He is then required to learn Kung Fu with a sensei named Barry.
Chase is then required to go undercover in Chan Chuang's group where he becomes a limousine driver for the millionaire and former mayor of Lego City, Forest Blackwell.
