Mortal Kombat X is a one-on-one fighting game and the sequel to the MK reboot that was released in 2011. It borrows some elements from that game, such as the Super Meter and X-Ray moves, as well as incorporating new ones, like character variations and some new modes.
Basic Gameplay
MKX is a one-on-one fighting game, where the default settings has the winner being the one to win two out of three rounds. Each character has basic moves similar to one another, as well as special ones of their own that can use to deplete the other's health. At the end of the second round, the winning player can perform a Fatality, a move that kills their opponent in a gruesome manner.
Super Meter
The Super Meter returns from the 2011 Mortal Kombat, which is split into three tiers. Players can fill the meter by being hit by their opponent's attacks, as well as inflicting damage or using special moves. This Super Meter can be used in one of three ways, with each one depleting a certain amount.
The first way is by enhancing special moves, such as adding more damage or giving it new properties (uses one bar). The next way, which uses two bars, is by performing a Breaker. This stops the opponent's combo and pushes them away. The third way (uses the full meter) is the X-Ray attack, which is a powerful attack that is shown close up and does a lot of damage.
