The first stage of Trial Mode will pit you against six Dire Rats, one of the first enemies you fight in the main game. One of the biggest benefits to this stage is that you can loot a Diamond Armlet from the one chest, making it possible to have one as soon as you begin with Vaan. Considering how easy it is to farm items in Trial Mode, this is also a great source of early gil, since each Diamond Armlet sells for 6,000 gil.
