Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, James Hong is known for his eclectic roles in films and voice acting. Among other parts, he played the menacing Lo Pan in Big Trouble in Little China, and Chu (spelled Chew in the credits), the eye-growing subcontractor in the film Blade Runner. Hong was also a former president of the Association of Asian/Pacific American Artists. Hong reprises his role of the eccentric Chu in the 1997 computer game version of Blade Runner, and has done voice work in other games as well.
