Research firm Newzoo estimates that revenue for consoles in the UK will drop below 50 percent market share for the entire gaming industry for the first time this year. Consoles are expected to account for 48 percent of gaming market share, despite the increasing popularity of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Despite the drop in market share, revenue for consoles is expected to increase 1.1 percent when compared to 2014. Handheld revenue is expected to drop by 25.5 percent, while PC gaming is expected to drop by 4.7 percent. Smartphones are expected to grow by 4.4 percent, while tablets are expected to increase by 10.1 percent.
