Report: PS4 Streaming Service Will Launch Q3 2014 in NA, 2015 Europe

Sony's Gaikai powered streaming service will be arriving in North America in Q3 2014 and Europe in 2015, according to "trusted sources" of Eurogamer. The Eurogamer article also says that developers have been briefed on the Gaikai technology and some have been invited to participate in a beta test for the streaming service.

Sony previously confirmed only that Gaikai will launch in North America in 2014, also saying that it would release on PlayStation 4 first before arriving on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. "That remains the plan and we're very much on track to reach that," Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House told Eurogamer. "We think there's a great opportunity to broaden the market, because you essentially remove the need to make the console purchase in order to have access to that experience," House added. "It may sound counter-intuitive, because, aren't you replacing a business that is your bread and butter? But part of being an innovative company is being a pioneer in new forms of distribution of content, and we would like to be there first and take a leadership role."
