If you're a Borderlands fan and you traded in your Xbox 360 or PS3, then Gearbox's Randy Pitchford has two words for you: "I'm sorry".
During Gearbox's panel at PAX East, Pitchford explained why they weren't porting the newly-announced Borderlands prequel over to the Xbox One or PlayStation 4.
"We wanted 100 percent of the energy that was going to go into this game to be dedicated towards making the game better, bigger, and awesome. We wanted none of that attention diverted towards figuring out just how to draw a triangle on a new platform that we just didn't understand."
Pitchford continued:
"So all, 100 percent, of the budget that's going into this game is all in content and features and iterating from Borderlands 2. No budget wasted on porting."
That's not to say that we'll never see a port for the Xbox One or PlayStation 4, though - a 'complete edition' could well be on the cards after all - but the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One certainly won't be getting Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel at the same time as their older siblings.
