Top 5 News Stories of the Week

It can become difficult to digest all the juicy tidbits of information that surface each week, so now I'm here to present them to you. This is the first edition of the Top 5 News Stories of the Week, a weekly series where I present five of the biggest news stories of each week. The stories are listed in no particular order.

Remember that there is a lot of gaming news every week and there is no way all of it can be covered, so if something is missing from the list that you wanted to see, apologies in advance. This is just a small sampling of some of the bigger news stories this week.


The Last of Us: Remastered Edition Finally Announced

The rumours surrounding this potential re-release for the PlayStation 4 were spinning around for months. However, it wasn't until this week that Sony announced that The Last of Us was coming to the PlayStation 4 in the form of The Last of Us: Remastered Edition. The re-release is landing at full price sometime this summer, potentially June 20 according to leaks, with Naughty Dog aiming to achieve 1080p/60FPS on the title.



Dark Souls II Delayed Until May 2 on PC... Or Is It?

Everyone's favourite soul crushing RPG Dark Souls II was initially slated to arrive on PC this month. However, it was leaked that Dark Souls II had been delayed until May 2, which was a week later than its scheduled release. This news came from an official UK distribution service stating that both physical and digital copies would be affected. Fortunately for Dark Souls fans Namco Bandai later announced that only UK physical copies would be affected and that in other regions the release date would remain the same.



The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Postponed Indefinitely on Xbox One

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was announced to be postponed indefinitely on the Xbox One. Speaking to Eurogamer, Activision confirmed that the Xbox One version of the title had been postponed, while all other versions of the game would release as initially planned. The game is launching on May 2 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. As things stand there will be no Xbox One release.



Star Citizen Reaches $42 Million in Crowd Funding

Star Citizen is undoubtedly the most successful Kickstarter game of all time - in a recent blog post on the game's RSI website it was confirmed that Star Citizen has raised over $42 Million in crownfunding to-date. Based on the overwhelming success of the title's crowdfunding campaign, and the positive reception an initial gameplay reveal had at PAX East, it looks like Star Citizen is on its way to becoming a massive success.



Snoop Dogg in Call of Duty: Ghosts

In what was one of the more unique announcements of the week, Infinity Ward revealed an upcoming piece of DLC in which Snoop Dogg would narrate the multiplayer component of Call of Duty: Ghosts. Infinity Ward also stated that more announcer packs were in the pipeline, including one featuring R. Lee Emrey, the Drill Instructor from Full Metal Jacket. This particular piece of DLC is arriving on April 22 and will set you back $3.
