The cost of attending the Tokyo Gaming Show just dropped to zero for some lucky independent developers. Sony will be covering the costs for all indie developers selected to exhibit at TGS's Indie Game Area this year.
Applications for the Indie Game Area are now available at the TGS website. To qualify, a developer must have annual sales of fewer than $100,000 USD (for individuals) or $500,000 USD (for companies). Applicants must also be financially independent from other gaming companies.
Even though Sony will be footing the bill, this will not limit the applicant pool to games on Sony platforms. PlayStation Global Third-Party Relations representative Brad Douglas said on Twitter that Sony does not "have any say in what’s exhibited. That’s all TGS. That said though, we don’t care if the game is on a PlayStation platform or not. The more indie games, the better! Just bring cool stuff!"
This year's Tokyo Game Show will take place from September 18th through the 21st.
