Nintendo of America has announced that the Mercedes-Benz downloadable content for Mario Kart 8, which was previously announced for August 27th in Japan, is now coming to North America on the same day.
Players will be able to choose from three Mercedes-Benz vehicles: The new GLA compact SUV, the 1934 W 25 Silver Arrow formula racing car, and the 1957 300 SL Roadster sports car. The DLC comes as part of a crossover campaign between Nintendo and the Mercedes GLA team to promote the new compact SUV.
Also arriving with the DLC is an update for Mario Kart 8 which includes some key features such as the addition of a map display on the TV, the menu cursor after each race will default to the last selected option, the game will remember recently customized karts, and the ability to change the options of other players' Mario Kart TV downloaded highlight reels.
The content arrives on the 22nd anniversary of the original Super Mario Kart, which Nintendo is also releasing on the Wii U Virtual Console.
