Desmond Miles was a main protagonist in the Assassin's Creed series, being the link between the real world and the world of the past. He was an American born bartender descended from numerous legendary Assassins, among them Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, Ezio Auditore da Firenze and Connor Kenway, the protagonists of each of the first three main Assassin's Creed games.
In Assassin's Creed, Desmond is captured by Abstergo and forced to live the past of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in search of an artifact known as the Apple of Eden. In Assassin's Creed II, Desmond joins the Assassin Order and re-lives the past of Ezio Auditore da Firenze to find the location of the Apple. Assassin's Creed III marked the end of Desmond's journey when he sacrificed himself to release Juno and save the world.
