The Hammer Bro. is a species of Koopa that appears in the Mario series of games, notably as an enemy to Mario and his friends. They stand upright and usually toss hammers in an arc towards Mario. There are variations to the Hammer Bro., most notably the Fire Bro, which throws fireballs, the Boomerang Bro, who tosses boomerangs, and the Ice Bro, which throws ice balls.
Their first appearance was in Super Mario Bros., and they have appeared in a plethora of other games since then. Its first appearance as a playable character was in Mario Party 8. After that, it appeared playable in Mario Super Sluggers. Hammer Bros. are considered as one of the most elite fighters in the Koopa Troop.
