Wario's first appearance was in this game, as the game's main antagonist. He takes over Mario's castle and turns all the inhabitants of Mario Land into zombies. He then seals the castle with the Six Golden Coins, which he gives to six of his cronies. He is eventually defeated by Mario in the end.
