Despite his appearances, Wario has shown to be extremely athletic and even rivaling the strength of Bowser and Donkey Kong. He uses this strength in Wario World to perform a variety of moves against enemies, such as a Piledriver. He is also known to use explosives and other items, some of which alter his appearance and give him extra powers.

- Metal Wario - Wario is the only one to use this power in Super Mario 64 DS; he has the same abilities as Metal Mario in Mario 64
- Crazy Wario - When hit by certain enemies in Wario Land, he becomes more difficult to control; In Wario Land II in Japan, this version is known as Drunk Wario, due to being hit by a beer mug
- Flat Wario - In Wario Land, after getting smashed by certain objects/enemies, his jump is diminished, as well as his speed, but he gains the ability to glide, making it easier to reach certain areas.
- Fat Wario - After eating certain foods, he becomes fat and his speed and jump is diminished. However, he can kill enemies and destroy certain blocks by walking into them and his normal jump has the same effect as a ground pound.

- Fart - Wario has used his fart to stun opponents in various games
